Spiritualism and Science

How is Spiritualism a Science? Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. This study may lead to finding the cause and the effect of the nature of the experiments which support a real and rational conclusion through evidence. The conclusions reached may not be final and must remain open to the light of new evidence, which may compound or disprove the theory. This is true of all sciences. Therefore Spiritualism in its’ scientific aspect is open to continuous research in all areas. Applying logical thought and reason to Spiritualism helps us to realise that there is a Science at work. It is a science in which we can all take part by giving consideration in the simplest of terms, or by more complex study. Natural Law: Everything that occurs operates within ‘Natural Law’. In terms of observing and considering anything that happens we can be sure of two things, there will be a ‘cause’ that creates an ‘effect’. Natural laws apply to everything, including, the non-physical attributes of our selves. Our mind, thoughts and emotions can cause us to act and react in words or actions and may, for example, have an effect on others. It can be seen that ‘a cause’ results in ‘an effect’, and that effect can be the cause of another occurrence and another effect, and so on. This helps us realise that Natural Laws control everything that happens and that spirit communication is not dependant on religion or philosophy. Mediumship is a science with controls (natural laws) that determine how the information is transferred and the process is repeatable, providing evidence of survival of the person’s intelligence beyond physical death. Psychic ability: The word Psyche is from the Greek language meaning ‘Soul’, hence Psychic is ‘of the Soul’. We, as physical beings, have a soul so we all have psychic abilities to some degree, however, it must be borne in mind that our abilities vary across many activities. A psychic can sense and interpret information about a person or object, but cannot, communicate with the Spirit World. Mediumship: Mediumship is the transfer of information from the spirit of a deceased person via a medium to a recipient. A medium is psychic but is also capable of communicating with people in the Spirit World through the further development of their psychic faculties. Communication with the Spirit World using mediumship is a means of enabling Spirit People, some of whom are our family and friends, to communicate with us to ensure us that they: Have survived physical death, Have retained their personality, character, mind, memories, etc. Have continued to learn and develop in the Spirit World Mediums cannot call up a particular Spirit person to communicate with us because, like ourselves, they can choose whether to communicate or not. Mediums do not all develop every form of Mediumship. Each medium’s abilities and qualities vary, because everyone is individual in their personal attributes. ( Read about: Guidance for a Private Sitting...) Mental Mediumship: Mental Mediumship involves the medium perceiving information via their psychic senses from a spirit person. This can manifest in several ways; they may receive visual (clairvoyance), auditory (clairaudience) or sensory information (clairsentience) including smell or taste. On occasion mediums simply know something by virtue of the information having been received in their mind without any form of sensory manifestation. Spiritual Healing: Spiritual Healing involves the use of healing energies being directed by Spirit people, via a medium, to assist a physical person to become healthier at all levels of being. Physical Mediumship: Physical mediumship is the ability of the Spirit people utilising the energy of a medium and others present, to create effects that can be witnessed by everyone present, whether they are mediumistic or not. This type of mediumship was much researched in the 19th century by various people, including eminent scientists such as Sir Oliver Lodge, Sir William Fletcher Barrett and Sir William Crookes. The experiments that they carried out with mediums convinced them of the authenticity of the phenomena. Modern Research: In January 1991, A group comprising seven scientists, who were psychical researchers, and seven mediums was set up as a research group. It was titled Psychical Research Involving Selected Mediums (PRISM), and the research group was named ‘Council of PRISM). The group developed and carried out a series of scientific experiments under strict protocol to determine the amount of information given by mediums to recipients being acceptable or not, with regulated requirements in place concerning the mediums and audience. Statistical analysis showed that the ‘intended recipients’ acceptance levels were higher than non recipients, the odds against chance being a million to one. PRISM maintain they have a repeatable experiment, providing the protocol is adhered to and good mediums are used. Their results were submitted to the Society for Psychical Research, and were published in their journal (JSPR) contained in the following papers: Paper 1 is in JSPR volume 65.2 number 863 “A preliminary study of the acceptance by non-recipients of mediums statement to recipients.” Paper 2 is in JSPR volume 65.3 number 864 “A double blind procedure for assessing the relevance of a medium’s statements to a recipient.” Paper 3 is in JSPR volume 68.1, number 874 “Results of the application of the Robertson-Roy protocol to a series of experiments with mediums.” 21st Century thoughts: Modern scientific theory continues to expand and encompass more that just the physical aspects of our Universe. It has moved from looking at the origins and vastness of our Universe to looking at the smallest particles that hold our physical world together through the scientific principles of 'Quantum Theory'. Today there are many who see answers to the unseen worlds and the 'divine' natural law present in the resulting research and equally those who would disagree with the 'divine' presence and express it merely as natural law. Science and Religion may always be uncomfortable bed fellows and for the Spiritualist, we accept that we will one day have some further answers and evidence, may be not in this phase of life but certainly at some point in the next.

Well we usually struggle to find workers for the morning service, but today we had two! A little mix up in the bookings made it look like the saying, Waited hours for a bus and then they all turn up together'. 15 in congregation made it a fair number (actually the biggest Sunday morning crowd for quite a time). OFFICIANT SERVICE

On Sunday the 7th October the church was host to a service to give our Vice President Carol Ellis her Officiant award.The service was taken by Minister Judith Seaman( Vice President Spiritual of the Spiritualist National Union. The church was full with representatives of other churches in the South Wales District, other Ministers,Officiants and Family and Friends. This was followed by a magnificent buffet. Spiritual Healing

Spiritual Healing is complementary to orthodox medicine; it must not be considered as an alternative. When you are unwell, you need to get assistance from the doctor. If you receive Spiritual Healing, this will complement your treatment, the two will work together to assist in your recovery. When we mention Healing of any sort, many people think immediately of making a person well due to a physical problem. This is true in part, but it is not the whole picture. When we mention “Spiritual”, many people immediately think of religion. With Spiritual Healing, this is not so. The Spiritual nature of mankind is all of those parts that are non – physical such as mind, emotions and the “life force”. Spiritual Healing can be administered to a person of any religious denomination or none at all. Religion and Faith take no part in a Spiritual Healing session and will not be discussed with you. Remember that the purpose of your visit is to receive Spiritual Healing, if you have a question, the Spiritual Healer will gladly answer it, but being brief may be necessary When Spiritual Healing is administered, it can assist a person on any or all of those levels of self, thus treating the whole person. No faith is required, that is true. Spiritual Healing is administered to babies, young children and animals. It is perhaps an obvious statement to make, that they are not going to know about faith, yet they can benefit from the Healing. Nothing is expected from the patient, except perhaps openness to what may happen, and a degree of trust in the Healer. An acceptance for the need for change and the will to do so will also help. It may surprise you to know that the patient has a great influence on the level of recovery because it is the patient’s positive attitude in wanting to feel well again that works with both medical treatment and Spiritual Healing. When attending for Spiritual Healing you will be asked: if you want to remove an “outside” coat and hat for your comfort to remove your spectacles, if you wear them to remove or switch off a hearing aid, if you use one to sit on a chair or lay on a couch, wheelchair users can be treated where they are None of the above has anything to do with the Spiritual Healing itself, just common sense so that you are comfortable. When you receive Spiritual Healing it will be explained to you how the Healer will work with you. Having explained the procedure for working and asked if you feel comfortable, the Spiritual Healer will ask you if you wish to continue. With your agreement, the session will continue. The Healer, with your permission, will place their hands on you, this is “contact healing”, or may work with their hands close to you but not touching, this is “near to the body healing”. Both work equally well, but each Healer has their own way of working. Healers are aware of where they may and may not place their hands, in respect to “sensitive areas”, they work to a Code of Conduct issued by their organisation to which they must adhere – it is compulsory. The duration of the healing session varies from person to person, and is usually between ten and twenty minutes. During the healing session, you will be asked to relax and quieten your mind; you may close your eyes to assist this process. As healing proceeds, you may feel a little warmer, a little cooler, or no change at all – just relax and enjoy the session. Equally, don’t try to detect what is happening, just RELAX. The Spiritual Healer will complete a record card each time you visit. It is strictly confidential, however, you are allowed to see your record card, but no-one else is, not even the Doctor! In accordance with “NHS Choices”, your Doctor has the right to refer you for Spiritual Healing if he feels it would be beneficial. You also have the right to request Spiritual Healing. The Healer will always encourage you to remain in touch with your Doctor. As previously mentioned, Spiritual Healing is complementary to medical treatment, so do tell your Doctor of any benefits that you may feel. The Doctor will always remain in control of your medical care. Please ask if there will be any cost for additional sessions. Depending on where these are held, and whether they are on a private appointment basis or arranged by a Spiritual Healing organisation may influence the cost, it may also be free. Psychic Art Demo

Psychic Art

Psychic art is perhaps one of the lesser known or practiced of psychic skills, yet it remains one of the most fascinating. Mediumship has many forms where by some mediums 'see' spirit while others hear them or sense them, then there are some mediums who are able to draw them! Often the medium has no previous artistic talent, and perhaps it is this fact that makes these spirit portraits even more remarkable. How does it work? Psychic art is the reproduction of spirit people by drawing, painting, or non-conventional means. Many modern day mediums will offer to tape a private sitting for you to take away with you, but how many can offer you a drawing? Psychic artists will not only draw, with a considerable amount of accuracy, our relatives in spirit, but can also draw our spirit guides. For some people who are just developing their gifts, this can be most important. In essence there is room for all the psychic talents, and pictures are yet another way of proving the existence of life after death. A psychic artist is a medium, and just as in clairvoyance or other mediumship, it needs to be attuned to the spirit world. Many psychic artists are able to describe their communicators and may be able to pick up names and other details. Most psychic artists through the use of their mediumship skills, are able to create portraits of people in spirit, many use easels others just pads on their laps and the variety of things used to draw are non-ending, e.g. pencil, pastel, crayons, charcoal, water color paints, acrylic paint and oil paint and in each of these items there are still more such as water color pencils, different grades of pencil and charcoal even chalk can be used. Sometimes a combination of more than one item could be used. It all depends on what the medium feels drawn too and comfortable with. As you progress, early scribbles will become sketches and as the link becomes stronger things become easier and your work becomes better. What you must remember is that not everyone will get what they want. What quite often happens is that the spirit communicator will not always present themselves as they were around the time of their passing. Sometimes wishing to show a younger image of them selves, this can cause problems for the recipient of the drawing who may be unsure of whom the person portrayed is. Quite often the information given will only make sense later, just as happens in any clairvoyant or psychic reading, only with the artist you have a picture to follow up your inquiries when you get home among family and friends. For me the most famous psychic artists were the Bang sisters. The sisters Elizabeth S and May E Bangs came from Chicago, Illinois. Although most of their work would be placed under the banner of physical mediumship, it was unique in every aspect. In public demonstrations they never actually touched the canvas, only sat on each side of it with the chosen member of the audience sitting in front of the canvas. After a short while and in front of a full auditorium, all could see the formation of a picture taking place and when completed it would be a full colour portrait of a family member of the person sat in front of the canvas, who I might add, had been picked at random from the ticket number sold to them on entry. The portrait would have the texture, off that of a butterfly's wings. It has been said that these pictures actually change as time goes on, only slightly but change they do. (It must be like having a picture from Harry Potters School 'Hogwarts' hanging on the wall.) The Bang sisters were very gifted mediums whose mediumship included, independent writing in broad daylight, independent drawing and painting, all forms of fully developed clairvoyance, materialization and independent direct voice. But their most wondrous and spectacular phenomena was that of precipitated spirit portraits in full color. What is 'Mental' Mediumship?

It is what is received through the mind of a medium from a spirit entity while the medium is in a receptive and altered state of mind. Try to liken it to a telephonist. A telephonist picks up her phone line and there is a person asking her to connect them to another person. So let us place the medium as the telephonist receiving a message from the spirit (the person making the call to the recipient). The medium then tells the person (The recipient) what the mediums is receiving from the spirit person. The only difference is, that the medium does the talking and depending on how good he/she is at making their link depends on the clarity of the message being given. History of Spiritualism

Most of the various forms of psychic phenomena associated with the Spiritualist movement are as old as man himself. Throughout the ages human beings have been aware of the existence of discarnate beings. In early days, when man lived close to nature, ancestor-worship became a form of religion; primitive man had no doubt that his ancestors had survived death and that they had powers to affect the living for good or ill. Therefore due reverence was shown to them in order to incur favour. The wise men of the tribe, who were possessed of psychic powers, the equivalent of modern mediums, would testify to the presence of the spirits and forms of communication were established with them. The Greeks consulted oracles and the Assyrians and Romans practised divination by augury to obtain guidance from the gods. Even today some cultures have their witch-doctors, who invoke the powers of the spirit for healing. It can be seen, therefore, that there is nothing new in the concept of a spiritual world inhabited by discarnate beings or in the use of psychic power to achieve spirit communication. The early Christian Church was founded on the basis of mediumship, Jesus of Nazareth being considered to have been an exceptionally gifted psychic and medium, as illustrated in the reports of his healing powers, inspired teachings, and so-called ‘miracles’. After the Crucifixion it is recorded that Jesus was seen and heard by Paul and others and it is clear that mediumship played an important part in the work of the Apostles in the spreading of this new religion and its presentation in Church services. The Bible in both the Old and New Testaments has many references to psychic abilities, inspirational speech, speaking in other languages, physical mediumship, healing and so on. However, the 4th century Council of Nicaea brought to an end the use of mediums and held that divine guidance, through the Holy Spirit, should be sought only from the priesthood: ‘false prophets’ were held to be servants of the devil, and sorcerers, heretics and mediums were all targets for persecution as a result of ‘witch-mania’. This accelerated in the Middle Ages, when religious sanction for this persecution was given in 1484 by a papal bull and by the publication of the Malleus Maleficarum or ‘Hammer of the Witches’. During this long period of persecution anyone suspected of using psychic gifts for whatever purpose was in danger of torture, trial and burning, and hundreds of thousands of mediums were put to death by organised ‘witch-hunters’. In the 18th century a Swedish scientist and astronomer, Emmanuel Swedenborg (picture left), had become well-known for his philosophical writings, received from spirit teachers. He died in 1772 but was able to resume his work prior to the Hydesville phenomena through the mediumship of young American, Andrew Jackson Davis. Knockings had also occurred in the 18th century in England at the Epworth Rectory, home of the Wesley family. The Modern Movement However, Modern Spiritualism is generally considered to date from the events which occurred at Hydesville (picture right), New York State, USA, on March 31st 1848, when two sisters, Margaretta and Catherine Fox (pictures below), established intelligent communication with a spirit entity which had been responsible for noisy rappings in the household. The publicity which this aroused and the numerous investigations carried out at the time allowed mediumship to come out into the open once more and many home circles sprang up for the purpose of further communication. In a short space of time many societies of Spiritualists were formed in America, based not merely upon the psychic phenomena produced but also upon the religious implications which lay behind the teachings received from spirit through the new revelation. Both the phenomena and the teachings attracted the attention of eminent scientists and intellectuals in America and (from 1852) Britain, to which Spiritualism was brought by Mrs Hayden, who was both persecuted and insulted by the press and the pulpit. In spite of this her mediumship was defended by many public figures, including Robert Owen, Socialist and one of the founders of the Co-operative Movement, who embraced Spiritualism after sittings with her, and many adherents were attracted to the cause. In 1853 the first Spiritualist Church was established in the British Isles by David Richmond at Keighley in Yorkshire (still in use today), and the first Spiritualist newspaper in Britain, The Yorkshire Spiritual Telegraph, was published in 1855, also at Keighley. By the 1870s there were numerous Spiritualist societies and churches throughout the country. In 1869 a Committee appointed by the Dialectical Society investigated Spiritualism and published the most favourable report on the movement up to that time by any investigating body. Two years later Sir William Crookes reported on Spiritualism to the Royal Society and published his findings in the Quarterly Journal of Science. The British National Association of Spiritualists (renamed in 1884 as the London Spiritualist Alliance and now known as the College of Psychic Science) was founded in London in 1873, followed by the Society for Psychical Research in 1882. Five years later the Two Worlds Spiritualist weekly newspaper was founded by Mrs Emma Hardinge Britten (picture left), through whose mediumship in 1871 Robert Owen had communicated the basis of the Seven Principles of Spiritualism, which were later to be adopted by the Spiritualists’ National Union as the basis of its religious philosophy. In the early days of the movement the most important necessity had been the complete freedom to develop and promote through multiple channels of communication the reception of the new spiritual inspiration without recourse to the establishment of a central organisation or administration. Some twenty years after the introduction of the movement to Britain it was now becoming apparent that there was a need to unite the many scattered churches and societies into some kind of federation in order to present a common front against persecution, win religious recognition and freedom of worship for its adherents and exponents, achieve a greater unanimity of opinion concerning the fundamental basis of Spiritualist beliefs, and give a new impetus and direction to the movement through co-ordination and co-operation. This task fell to Mrs Britten, a gifted orator and writer, who had launched the Two Worlds in 1887 and was the joint composer of the Lyceum Manual published in the same year. Spiritualism is not as is commonly believed, a sinister cult meeting in darkened rooms to “call up the dead” but an officially recognised religious movement with its own churches and Ministers, who possess the same rights and privileges as other religions. Evidence of Survival Spiritualism is in itself a religion in that it embodies the main ideas of all religions that there is a life after death, an immortality and the existence of a God. The difference between Spiritualism and other religions is the ability through mediumship to provide evidence that man survives the grave; that is to say certain people called mediums are able to communicate with those who have passed over, thus furnishing evidence of their continued existence in another world. Mediums cannot call up these people as one would a friend on the telephone, they come to us, but only when they are ready, willing and able so to do. The philosophy of Spiritualism is based on seven fundamental principles. 1. The Fatherhood of God. 2. The Brotherhood of Man. 3. The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels. 4. The Continuous Existence of the human soul. 5. Personal Responsibility. 6. Compensation and Retribution hereafter for all the good or evil deeds done on earth. 7. Eternal Progress open to every human soul. Not Anti-Christian Spiritualists are often accused of being atheists or anti-Christian. Spiritualists are not anti-Christian any more than they are anti-Jewish, anti-Hindu or anti-Moslem. Spiritualism is a universal religion recognising such leaders as Buddha, Mohammed, Moses as well as Jesus. Another major difference between Spiritualism and the orthodox Christian religion is embodied in our fifth principle, which is Personal Responsibility. We do not accept that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. We hold that no one can do this but ourselves. We are given free will and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong and we alone are responsible for all our thoughts and actions. God not Vindictive Further, we do not believe in a vindictive God sitting in judgement over us. We are our own judges here and now and we shall receive compensation or retribution for whatever we have done, whether good or bad. Heaven and Hell are not places to which we are destined to go, but states of mind of our own creation. We do not automatically become spiritual when we leave this world. We shall in fact, retain our earthly characteristics while the opportunity will be given throughout eternity to make spiritual progress and so undo any wrongs we committed on earth, for both free will and personal responsibility will still be with us in the world to come. We are living in a material age in which orthodox religion has lost its impact. Any religion therefore which can successfully overcome this materialist influence must be scientific, and Spiritualism is just that. It has turned the pious hope of a hereafter into a scientific fact. The advent of the spirit of man into this world and in the course of time, his transition to another world is a scientific fact proved by mediumship. We do not expect you to accept these things blindly but we do invite you to prove our claim for yourself.

Materialisation:

Probably the most dramatic form of physical mediumship and takes a very long period of development. Nandor Fodor (Encyclopaedia of Psychic Science,) says, "That materialisation is the appearance of temporary, more or less organised substances in varying degrees of solidification and possessing human physical characteristics: limbs, faces, eyes, heads, full figures, shaped for a temporary existance out of "Ectoplasm" by an unknown agency. " The medium usually needs to be in a deep trance state and enclosed within a "Cabinet", which is an enclosed area normally formed with curtains. The ectoplasmic forms will normally and usually only be felt, as this is carried out in a blacked out room, and will continue in this manner until the spirit controls grant permission for the introduction of a dimmed red light. At this stage of development, the circle guides will be able to communicate their requirements clearly, which must be followed absolutely to the letter. This is a requirement for the protection of not only the medium, but for the whole of the circle. At NO time should a sitter attemp to touch an ectoplasmic form without the proir and explicit permission of the spirit controls. Serious damage and injury can result to the medium and sometimes the sitters too. Materialised forms, at the turn of the century 19/20th, were common place in red light at home circles. Many photgraphs have been taken and scientists have, under test conditions, examined many of the materialised forms and found them to have normal body heat, a pulse from a heart beat and normal texture of skin. Prof Charles Richet (Thirty Years of Physical Research) Says; "A living being, or living matter, formed under our eyes, which has its proper warmth, apparently a circulation of blood, and a psychological respiration. A psychic personality having a will distict from the will of the medium, in a word, a new human being!" He went on to say of Marthe, "I have seen admirably modeled fingers with nails, I have seen a head and felt the skull under thick black hair, A well materialised hand has the functional capacity of a normal hand." Some very famous materialisation mediums were: Helen Duncan, Alex Harris, Estelle Roberts, Carmine Mirabelli, The Eddy Brothers, Jack Webber, DD Home and Florence Cook but to name a few. There are many examples of this kind. For the students who wishes to go further along this field in their studies of Pschic Phenomenon and especially Physical Mediumship. Nothing Going on Today at Park Grove

Tuesday, is one of the two days each week that the Church is not open to the General Public. The other day is Friday. The Church is open but only to the members who participate in closed circles. The Church is very busy throughout and it takes some organizing to get it running smoothly. A big thank you to all who help in getting the Church ready for all services. Also, a massive thank you to all who regularly attend services, you are the back bone of the Church and help with the massive job of keeping the doors open, which has been made a little more difficult owing to rising expenses to running costs.

What is Spiritualism?

Spiritualism means many things to many people to some it is a philosophy, to some a religion, to some the science behind mediumship and evidence of life after death along with the natural laws of cause and effect, to some it is the life long study and attainment of spiritual wisdom. Whatever Spiritualism may come to mean or to be defined as by any individual it is fundamentally a journey of unfolding ones own spirituality and its’ aim to bring about a transformation of the individuals spiritual qualities, morals and ethics for the betterment of self and to the benefit of all in this life. What the Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU) provides through its’ churches/centres, literature and education are opportunities for anyone to begin their investigation and study of Spiritualism and to consider its implications in all matters of the spirit here and now as well as the hereafter. In the United Kingdom the SNU is a registered religious body for Spiritualism. The SNU adopts a set of 7 Principles that form the basis for a study of spirituality through a philosophy, which its’ members and churches/centres support and promote. SNU Churches/Centres offer services which include mediumship to provide evidence of the existence of the Spirit within us all and the continuation of every individual soul beyond physical death, irrespective of nature or belief.

FLEDGELINGS DO WELL

A newish closed circle of the church this evening showed a large crowd what they had learned from Spirit. The circle, which is headed up by Pat Spillane and aided by husband Phil, gave themselves a good test.The circle consists of Pat, Rhian Smith , Holly Brinkworth, Mike Parsons, Mark Anderson and last but not least Phil Spillane. They gave many messages which most were taken by the recipients. There was laughter and giggles as the humour came out and when saddness creapt in, it was treated in a most sensitive manner by all. I can say without hesitation, that with people like these this evening, it will ensure, that the supply of Spiritual mediums will continue to come out of this lovely sanctuary, that we call PARK GROVE CHURCH.

Maurice Barbanell

Maurice Barbanell, without doubt is one of the most unsung hero's of Spiritualism to day. Maurice Barbanell was born on 3rd May 1902. He is probably more famous for his literary works within the spiritualist field than anything else. Even so, he was the founder of the Psychic News as well as being its Editor for many years. In this capacity he was invited to sit in many physical circles, which gave him considerable opportunity to watch and judge the mediumship of some of the greatest mediums of our by gone days. Through his literary works, he brought to the public, many, many books of a spiritual nature, and virtually and single handedly presented masses of unquestionable evidence of the survival of life after physical death, and at a time when mediumship was not taken seriously by 20th century media. He was supported by many famous and influential colleagues such as; Air Vice Marshall Lord Dowding, Arthur Findlay, Sir Oliver Lodge and Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, who spread the word and teachings of spiritualism to millions all over the world. Maurice Barbanell was, in his own right, a first class Trance medium though which, and in Hannan Swaffer's home circle, the famous teaching of "Silver Birch" were channelled. Silver Birch was Maurice Barbanell's guide who worked with him for over 60 years before Maurice joined him in the spirit world in 1981. (Silver Birch passed to the spirit rhelms over three thousand years ago, a highly evolved soul who chose to come back to the earth plane as a native American Indian and give his wonderful teachings.) There are those who say, that if you have not read Silver Birch, then you are not educated in the ways of spirit. They were and still are wonderful books, educational, interesting and still available through the Psychic Press Bookshop at Stanstead Hall. Many of Maurice Barbanell's own books are a must for any budding medium.
