HEALING ON WEDNESDAY 30th DECEMBER

Although the services have stopped until 3rd of January, you will be pleased to know that our healers are available on the 30th of December for all your healing needs.
There will be one session only and that will be in the afternoon between 1pm and 2pm.

The first Divine Service of 2010 will be on 3rd Jan at 11am. We look forward to seeing all of you in the new year

The Evening service will commence at 6pm that evening.

New Day for Demonstration of Mediumship

Yes , we are changing the Saturday night demonstration to a Monday night. It was felt that we compete with many things happening in the city on a Saturday, so we have switched it to MONDAY NIGHT @ 7pm. The venue is the same ,the price is the same (£3). the only thing different is the day MONDAY not SATURDAY. The first One is to be held on MONDAY 4th January at 7pm. Great value for only £3 admission.

Carol Service

On Sunday 20th December we are holding our Carol service.
Come along to spend an hour in this lovely church, in the energies that are built up.
Bring along your children to help celebrate this important time of year.
Take time to remember those who are no longer with us in this world, but have passed to the other side, will and surely be with us tomorrow evening.

It starts at 6pm. After the service stay with us for tea , coffee and mince and apple pies.

Tonight is the last circle until 7th January 2010, so come along and get your last chance of a fix for 2009.

Healing/ Services at Park Grove over Christmas

Healing on Wednesday 16th December will be held at the usual times , that is at 1pm until 2pm and 7pm until 8pm. The Saturday morning healing will also be as usual ---- 10-30-11-30 am.
On Wednesday 23rd December and Wednesday 30th December there will only be healing in the afternoon.
There will be no healing on the 2nd of January 2010.

D.O.M. on Saturday 19th December (3 Mediums) normal time @7pm
Sunday 20th ------ NO morning service.

Sunday Services

This will be the last Sunday morning service of 2009. Next Sunday we will be holding the Carol Service which will begin at 6pm.
This morning service will be taken by two young ladies who are members of the church and have started their journey of working with Spirit. They are Kim (Roy to her mates) Rogers and Sandra Pengilley.

This evenings service again is taken by a young lady who has turned into avery good worker for Spirit, Sharon Fry. Sharon will be joined by another lady who is a member of the church, the likeable Jane Best.

Please come along not only for yourself but also to support the church.

This Saturday sees the return of International Medium Leah Bond. Leah has said she is looking forward to coming to Park Grove again to do a service. She has worked very hard for Spirit over many years and we are lucky to have her in the church again.

The Weekend.

Well It has been another good weekend at Park Grove. On Saturday night , Bev Charles and company were excellent. Sunday to was a good day. Linda Calver was back at the church after a long time and gave a lovely service. The Evening service was given by Angela Porter, who has been at the church on many occasions , again giving a service to be proud of.

This service was followed by an open platform event,supervised by Carol Ellis .
Thanks to Mike Cronin, Jane Best, Chris Jenkins, Ann Herbert and last but not least Mr Tom Morgan. This was a very good ending for another great weekend at Park Grove.

The 11am service is being done by a friend of Park Grove . She is the Lovely Linda Calver. At 6pm Angela Porter is back, she has been to us many times.

All you budding Clairvoyants out there remember that you wil;l have a chance to practice on the rostrum under the supervision of International Medium Carol Ellis.

Jane Best

Best by name best by nature. Jane jumped to the aid of the church last night as the booked mediums failed to show. Jane who had nearly given the philosophy in the morning but was thwarted by Leah Bond who arrived a little late.
Janes' chance came this evening and supplied a reading and her philosophy in what can only be described as " in her own style". The oongregation really appreciated her contribution and so does the church.

Thank you so much Jane for your magnificent contribution.

It was also great to see over 30 people in the church, long may it continue.

Keep Smiling

The weather may be atrocious and the recession may be biting, but down at Park Grove everything is normal,well if you know what normal is.

A big thank you to to Angela for all the hard work over this past weekend. Her lovely Scottish lilt filled the church and surely addrd to the energies that are there. She will be returning and we will keep a welcome in the hillsides.

Last Chance

Tomorrow night is your last chance to see Angela McInnes at Park Grove this year. Angela will finish her Welsh visit tomorrow night with a demonstration of mediumship well worth the £5 entrance fee.
Those who did not come to the services today missed out on seeing Angela give great survival evidence and philosophy.
30 people attended the evening service and went away smiling. The morning service was just as good but only 12 people came to the church. It pity that so many missed out on the brilliant philosophy that was given.

Tonight

Angela McInnes is the medium in the church for tonights demonstration of mediumship. Forget the weather and come and see a lady who gives out sunshine every time she works.
£5 per person at the door.

Workshop

On the Weekend of 14th of November we are once again privileged to have International Medium Angela McInnes for the whole of that weekend.
On the Saturday Angela will be having a Workshop entitled ADVANCE YOUR MEDIUMSHIP 2.

Healers are Waiting

On Wednesday the healers take centre stage for two sessions of healing.
Early afternoon from 1pm until 2pm and then in the evening from 7pm until 8pm.
Come along and get the benefit of the healing energies generated over the years in the church.
A reminder that healing is free but you can make a donation towards the upkeep of the church.

This Evening

The church welcomes Paul and Debra Rees this evening. This will be the third time that they have been to Park Grove, and will undoubtedly give a good service.

A special thank you to Mr Ken Stephenson who kindly stepped in this morning to chair the service.
Ken is always willing to help. As of this moment I do no not know why the chosen Chair did not attend, I hope that all is well with them. Thank you once again Ken.

Update on Boiler Repairs.

You will be pleased to know that the boiler has been repaired and is working AOK.
It must have been warm at open circle last night as I did not receive any telephone calls complaining of frost bite.
Well done to DRT heating for the prompt service .

Weekend 7th November 2009

Starts off with with the healers in the morning,and then on to a Demonstration of Mediumship by Cardiff's own Mike Cronin. Be there for the 7pm start.

Sunday brings Carol Ellis for the morning service, and the return of Paul and Debra Rees for the 6pm service
If the weather is awful, it will be nice and warm in Park Grove, that is if the boiler is fixed in time.
I have been told to look on the bright side.

No heating at the church

At this present time the boiler has decided to stop boiling so to say,so I am warning you to take a warm coat with you to church at the moment. I can assure you that I am on the case and hope to have it up and running in a short while.
Must have known I have been away for a whole week.

Monday Meditation

Once again those who were able to attend the Monday Meditation circle found it and interesting and relaxing place to spend an evening even if there were a few rockets who somehow managed to get lit before November the 5th! But it was good to see that most were able to enter the silence and not hear the fireworks or the 7.30 train rumble past!

Healing energies were sent out to other regulars who were under the weather or under the cosh due to work commitments - hope to see you in two weeks time

Weekend 31st / 1st November at Park Grove

This weekend has seen the members of Park Grove once again getting into the spirit of things!

There might have been fireworks outside on Saturday night, but they could not dim the glow of Val Croot's green war paint or the sparkle of Carol Ellis' mask inside the Church!

Jane Young and Sheila Withers gave many good messages & were not put off the loud bangs or by the sight of Chair and Steward in full Halloween costumes and Jack Wynne-Williams had to admit that he does wear that outfit on other nights!

Sunday saw Christopher Jenkins Chairing his first Sunday morning service with Tony Leeson.

The Sunday evening service saw Joan Lambert step in and help at the last minute and with 28 in the congregation... in full voice; the energies were high. She probably would have continued all evening if permitted!

She did however stay on after the service with Carol Ellis to listen to those brave enough to make use of the "open platform"opportunity to work. Her praise and constructive comments were much appreciated and we hope that others will make use of this event which takes place on the First Sunday of each Month.

I have returned

I have returned to Wales on a very rainy evening (Sunday) at 7-45pm.
I will now endeavour to get the information from the people who can tell me what happened last week so I can update this Blog.

Thursday Open Circle 29th October

Saturday starts with Two ladies from over the river Severn. They are Linda Walker and Val Cameron. They have been to the church before and we are looking forward to them working again in the Capital of Wales.

Sunday services are; at the 11am service is the welcome return of Joan Lambert and the 6pm service will be taken by Park Grove members Les Jones and Maureen Howells.

Thursday Open Circle

It is that time again. The weeks just seem to fly by. Of course it could be my age ,but I am certain that it is always a good service.
Remember to be there before 7pm. None will be allowed in if it is after the stated time, even if they have been paid for by someone else in advance. So get there early and enjoy the evening.
The worker is Linda Calver, the chair is me Phil, so see you there.

Healing on Wednesday

Just areminder that there is healing on Wednesday in the afternoon and the evening. Times for the afternoon is from 1pm until 2pm and in the evening from 7pm until 8pm.
They are waiting for you so come along and feel the energies in the church.
There is no charge for the healing but you can make a donation to help with the upkeep of the church.

Sunday at Park Grove

The morning service will be taken by Eileen Roberts. The service starts at 11pm and lasts for 1 hour. Eileen has been to us on several occasions and will not disappoint.

The evening service is being taken by two ladies who have progressed from the open circle and workshops held by the snu and other workshops. They have become regulars at Park Grove and always give good and meaningful services. They are Sharon Fry and Kim Rogers. Welcome back to your church. This service starts at 6pm and after which you can drink tea /coffee and eat biscuits free of charge and have a good gossip.

Saturday Demonstration

Once again the Saturday Demonstration curse strikes again. After several weeks of trying to contact the worker originally booked for tonight without any success, it fell to me on wednesday to find another worker. Well once again Mike Cronin has stepped in so that the church can continue to stay open to the public to receive messages from loved ones and friends in the Spirit World.

It is getting difficult to get workers these days but thank heavens for people like Mike

There are two sessions tomorrow (Wednesday). There is an afternoon session from 1pm until 2pm and an evening session from 7pm until 8pm.

This is when you get a chance to actually see what the other members look like and for the people you have asked to look after the building etc to tell you what has been happening / planned on your behalf.

Saturday Demonstration - Grace West

Tonight a full church enjoyed a successful experiment!

Grace kept the laughter and the messages flowing

Hopefully spirit will guide her and Eileen safely though the maze of cones along the M4 tonight as well as they did during the service.

Nice to hear a Medium receiving a loud and spontaneous round of applause at the end of the evening - so if you missed Grace tonight we will be booking her again.. and again.. and..again

Weekend at Park Grove

Saturdays Demonstration has Mr George Seaton working at the church. George has been to us on several occasions and we look forward to seeing him again. It is only £3 per person, which is good value in todays monetary recession.


Sunday Services will be taken by @ 11am Val Croot who has served this church for many years and this time has jumped in to replace someone who dropped out .
The 6pm service is being taken by Sharon Fry an up and coming medium who has come through the churches open circle and progressed to the rostrum in a fairly quick time. She has taken services before and has once again stepped in to help us out of a jam as the original worker dropped out as well.
I would like to thank both Val and Sharon for supporting the church as they do. Without people like you we would struggle to fill the services . Thank you again

Both the services today will be taken by the President of the South Wales District, the popular Mr Don Sutton from Bridgend.
Don is always a joy to see at Park Grove. So come along and listen to philosophy at its best. No pressure Don.

Weekend Services

Saturday at 10-30 the Healers do their stuff as usual which will be followed in the evening with a Demonstration of Mediumship by Mr Mike Davies. Mike has been to us on several occasions and always does well.

The routine for people who have never been and are coming tonight is as follows---- The doors are closed at 7pm prompt ,so get there before 7. It will cost you £2 which is good value as you will be supervised by a TRAINED TEACHING MEDIUM.

It starts at 7pm ,so make sure you are not late as like the open circle the doors will not open.

Saturday Demonstration at Park Grove

This evenings demonstration will be by Andrej Djordjevitch, a well known Park Grove regular.
In fact Andrej will be doing all the services this weekend.
This evening starts at 7pm and will only cost you £3 to see Andrejs' performance.
Both the Sunday services cost nothing to attend( a freewill collection is taken) and the morning service begins at 11am and evening service begins at 6pm.

After the Sunday evening service there is an opportunity for all trainee mediums to hone their skills under the guidance of a trained teaching medium.
So come along to what will be an interesting evening.

I must mention our Healers . They will be at the church this morning from 10-30 to 11-30 to aid you with your aches and pains. Can I remind all that our healers are all approved by the SNU.

Apology

Please accept my apology for not blogging as much as I have done before.
I have been away for two weeks and I have been very busy getting all stuff ready for my new job which starts on the 2nd . What with chairing and stewarding and cleaning the church, you some times wonder if there is enough hours in the day. Thats enough of my moan, so lets get going again.

mike Cronin

Mike Cronin gave another special night of mediumship tonight at park Grove. Mike once again stood in to work at the last moment when the advertised medium could not make it .
The people who attended were given a show of mediumship that only Mike could have given.
humor, sadness and great evidence was the name of the game.
Spare a thought for the four ladies who came and left because it wasa not the medium advertised. pity you all missed a good evening

The Week Ahead

Just before I go for a well deserved rest (my opinion) My wife and I thought that a notice of the week to come might be needed.
Wednesday we have the healing as always.
Thursday we have Open circle, you know the rules by now .
Saturday morning the healers are back, and in the evening we have the yearly visit of the lovely Shirley Chubb who hails from Plymouth. Shirley will also be taking the two Sunday services at 11am and 6pm.

Weekend is Looming

It gets nearer by the minute. The weekend I mean. In the morning we have healing then it is followed by the Demonstration of Mediumship in the evening. Starting at 7pm we have the pleasure of Grace West from Little Mill. Grace has been to the church on many occassions and always does a good service.

Sunday sees the usual Divine services at 11am and 6pm

All Sorted

Another weekend done and dusted at the centre . The Big Weekend obviously affected those who came to services but we still feel that we succeeded.
A big thank you to the people who braved the atrocious parking conditions and vomit filled streets to attend the services.
Hopefully next week will bring us back to normality

Angela McInnes

Angela finished her demonstrations of Mediumship this evening. She was joined on the rostrum by good friend Carol Ellis. The service went very well and you could see that they have worked together before as they started to work with the same communicator at the same time . It was interesting to see the way they worked and gave there messages.
Angela is back again in November.

Parking at Park Grove

Can I remind people who use our church during the week that to park you need to purchase tickets from the machines which can be found in the street.
We at the church are not responsible to pay any fine that you get by parking without a ticket.
There is a reminder to drivers on the Church Doors as you enter the premises.
The wardens are around between 8am and 6pm all week, and that includes Sundays. all parking after 6 is free and you do not need a ticket to park.
If you are a blue badge holder you can park free, but you must display both parts of the badge and show the correct time on the clock part of the badge.

Angela McInnes

International Medium Angela McInnes is with for all services next weekend. She will be doing the Demonstration of Mediumship on the Saturday evening @ 7pm, both Sunday services @ 11am and 6pm plus an extra Demonstration on Monday evening @ 7pm.

As well as above Angela is doing a workshop all day Saturday. This is now sold out .
It will be a busy time for Angela this weekend, so come along and see her in action so to speak.

Admission on Saturday evening and Monday evening is £5 payable at the door.

Weekend at Park Grove

Kicks off with healing in the morning, so come and get the benifits of these good people. Saturday evening sees the return of popular medium Christopher Heath. To be honest, at this moment of writing we have been unable to contact him to confirm him coming. You can rest assure though that we will have people standing by to take his place, but let us hope he turns up.

On Sunday both services will be taken by that lovely lady Angela Porter. Angela has been to Park Grove many times and we always look forward to seeing her.

Weekend at Park Grove

There is a good weekend beckoning at the church. Saturdays demonstration is with Carol Ellis, who is just back from working in Sweden. There could be others working with her if she can persuade the right people.

on the Sunday we have the return of Val Croot for the 11am service and at 6pm Carol makes another appearance, this time with a lady who has come a long way to be with us. Jane Stephens hails from New Zeal and and is a psychic artist. Carol and Jane will put their skills together to do the service.

Well all is set for a great weekend. Come along , you know it makes sense

Tonight at Park Grove

You will see the talents of a number of people who have just started on their journey of working with Spirit. They are being led by again by someone just starting out, but has developed very quickly. Sharon Fry does services in many churches in and around South Wales. She also is in charge of a closed group within the church.
This is one of the ways that budding workers can get experience in an a positive atmosphere.

Sunday Evening

A very good service by Worker Les Jones on Sunday at Park Grove. Les was accompanied by Maureen Howells.
A very interesting address was given by Les , and this was followed by good survival evidence which was given in a jovial and vibrant atmosphere.
There were a lot of happy people drinking their tea afterwards.

Saturday Demonstration

The popular lady from Swansea is the worker, yes Gail Osbourne is with us this Saturday. We are lucky this time as she has an appointment with hospital on th 15th, and is having an operation. All at Park Grove wish Gail a quick recovery and look forward to when she can return.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday. It starts at7pm and is great value for a measly £3.

Healing

Healing continues at Park Grove even in this mini heatwave. The army of dedicated people are waiting to help you all.
Afternoon session will commence at 1pm antil 2pm and the evening session will start at 7pm and finish at 8pm.
Healing is free, but you can make a donation if you want, which goes to the upkeep of the church.

Sunday Evening

Well it was a different type service than the others, as the workers were what you could call fledgelings. Sandra and Phil ( the old fledgling) with Kim supporting them both as she was the youngest, just.
Sandra said an excellent opening prayer and was very professional when she gave the reading. Phil gave a good address of how he came into the church, which kept the congregation interested. The clairvoyance was also good . All the messages were accepted by the recipients. Kim was there to give her support and succeeded admirably .
It must have been nerve racking on that rostrum, but all handled it well.
A big thank you to all who came to support, especially Kim ,who worked this morning.
Also to Jack who gave what was one of his best chairing days today.

Sunday Morning

This weekend has a local theme . Sharon Fry (alias Karen)and Kim Rogers(alias Roy) are the workers. They have both come on in leaps and bounds and it is always a pleasure to see them work.
Park Grove is their ' home church' and they have never let us down in their in the way they do the services. so girls No Pressure , and i will be in the front row watching the way you work, Ha Ha.

Saturday Demonstration

Linda Calver and Cath Kelly worked very hard tonight and the survival evidence was second to none.
Up against tv programme Britains Got Talent, it was just as good in my opinion as the programme.
Energies were low but did not deter the workers. Well done to you both.

The Sun might have been shining outside but the love and warmth was in abundance inside. - and no the radiators were NOT on!

Carol Ellis at Park Grove

A very welcome return to Carol who has just spent a week in Sweden. No not on holiday but working for Spirit.
Her address was very much to the point and understandable by all. This was followed by excellent survival evidence.
The morning marked the second service that our treasurer Pat has chaired. She did extremely well once again, so please keep it up.

Grace West at Park Grove

Grace West came to Park Grove again and gave a wonderful demonstration. She was jovial throughout her many messages that were given. Intermingled with the messages were chats about her experiences in many years of working with Spirit.
The evening was a joy to witness and Grace continues to fly the flag for Spirit in her own down to earth way.

Weekend is Looming

After another successful Thursday Open Circle we can look forward to another good weekend at the Church.
As you all know there is healing in the morning from 1o-30 until 11-30. In the evening there is the demostration of mediumship which stars at 7pm. The worker this Saturday is Grace West. She is always welcome at Park Grove so come along and see her work.
Sunday morning sees the Church sec Carol Ellis doing her bit after a very busy period of working in Sweden.
The evening service brings back Jane Young and Sheila Withers. They should have been with us earlier in the year,but had to cancel due to ill health. Both are now fully fit and looking forward to the service on Sunday

Sunday Evening

Little bubbly Jan Lloyd was the worker this evening. There were lots of laughter and giggles as always when this young lady visits.
Jan has that personality that makes you smile and that lifts the vibrations and energies. Her survival evidence was spot on as usual and a good night was had.
It is good to see more people staying for tea and a chat after the service. The atmosphere is excellent at the church.

Sunday Morning

The congregation of 24 were given a service which the worker Joan Lambert should be proud of. From the opening prayer through to the closing prayer the message of true spirit was given.
Joan was back at Park Grove after many years and what a return it was.
Simple, yet profound philosophy and accurate evidence of survival, went along with the theme of love, which was evident through the service.
Thank you Joan for coming to Park Grove on your, what inevitably will be the first of many other appearances on what is your second time around for the cause of Spiritualism.

Weekend at Park Grove

There is the usual healing at 10-30am. and in the evening the Demonstration will be with Mike Davies. Mike is bringing along a young girl called Page, he brought her once before. She will sing the 2 songs in the service. No doubt she will be made very welcome.

Sunday should be a Val day,as Val Croot will be taking the two services at 11am and 6pm. Always a pleasure to see Val on the Rostrum, even when she is chairing.

Val Croot ----- this evening

Well , although only 20 people attended this evening, they all left with the words------- "she is good".
Val Croot was herself as usual, funny with bouts of seriousness, but very good evidence. It is a pity that not more people saw her in action, but there will be other occassions when she works the church again.


Thanks Val for your excellent work. Also a big thank you to Spirit for without them we would have nothing to give to anyone.

Its that time of the week again

Yes tomorrow sees another open circle . Time seems to pass by so so quickly these days.

Monday Meditiation

It's Monday the 20th April

So at 7pm there will be peace and quiet at Park Grove and an opportunity to forget your problems or possibly resolve them!

This is the place for new and regular meditators to get some practice being in the silence; by sitting in a warm (Yes boiler is working!) and friendly environment.

Don Sutton gave an eloquent reading/address this morning followed by very detailed evidence of survival.

The bright sunshine must have helped lift the spirits as well as the voices of the congregation. Which meant I did not have to sing very loudly and possibly out of tune!

However; not even his healing hands to revive the CD player - so good thing that we had a back up ready.(It was working when it was in my house. --Phil)

Also a missed opportunity for absent regulars to seeing me in shirt and tie & blazer!

Don is back from Bridgend today for the evening service at 6pm, so please take the opportunity to catch the evening sun at Park Grove.

The morning service at 11am will be taken by Eileen Roberts. Eileen has served this church before and we welcome her back tomorrow .
The 6pm service sees the return of Sharon Fry and her sidekick Kim (Roy) Rogers. These lovely ladies are what you call home grown and came through the open circle route to the rostrum. They have been serving many churches in South Wales, and it is great to see them doing so well and serving in their ' home church'.

Tonights Demonstration

There is a change to the worker for tonight at Park Grove . Mike cronin has kindly stepped into the breech so to speak when the advertised workers were struck down with measles of all things . Never say die Mike ha served Churches for so many years ( I won't tell you the exact number) and is always welcome here at Park Grove . Have a good "un" Mike. Andrej and the circle last night

Andrej Djordjevitch was the medium last night at the open circle at Park Grove. He worked well with the people who got up to give messages etc.
Although the energies seemed low, a lot of survival evidence was given by several people. A few also said that when they arrived they were feeling under the weather, but left feeling 100% better.

On the negative side there were noises of someone banging doors and windows to gain access at 7-15pm. This persisted until it was decided to find out who was the cause.
It was two young girls who wanted a reading. After an explanation by myself about the church they left and we were undisturbed from then on.

The attendance was lower than usual (17) but it being the start of Easter could may well be the cause.

This evening is nice opportunity to learn how to leave the stress of the day behind you and possibly gain some insights to who you are and your understanding.

Drama at evening service

Heard the one about the chair person arriving at the service in the back of a police car? No, well go and ask Phil Spillane, he did just that.
He was not the criminal though, he was helpng police apprehend a wanton vandal. Thanks to Phil aided and abetted by Jack Wynne Willliams (on his trusty bike) the person was apprehended and later confessed all. The service was good as well, Eric and bryan played a blinder.

Christopher Heath

Quite a different night this time for Christopher at park Grove. The numbers were a little down on the usual, but did not deter the way chris rattles off the messages. There were just 30 in the church but all seemed to be in awe with some of the evidence he gave.
Chris is back later in the year so please make an effort to see this man do his stuff.

SPIRITUALISM HISTORY

On March 31, 1848 two young girls went to bed early in the family cottage in Hydesville, New York. Rapping had been occurring for the past few weeks in the house, and the Fox family was exhausted. This evening was no different, except this time Katie, the youngest, jumped out of bed and clapped her hands a few times. The raps answered back the same number of times. The girls played this way, then their mother decided to carry this further. She asked the rapper how many children she had. The raps came back correctly, including one child who had died. Then she asked the ages, and again the responses were right. Neighbors came and had similar experiences. Eventually, they discovered that the rapper was the spirit of a peddler named Charles B. Rosna, and that he had been murdered for his goods, worth about $500. He said a previous tenant of the cottage had done it, and buried him in the cellar. Digging in the cellar at a later time uncovered bones, hair, and a peddler's tin cup.

The discovery that it was possible to communicate with spirits, or those who had died, was the beginning of modern American Spiritualism. The rappings encouraged the sisters to begin public meetings, saying their work had only begun. Communications and manifestations came rapidly, and were more orderly. Katie and Maggie were joined by their older sister Leah, and in November 1849 they gave their first public demonstration in the largest hall in Rochester, New York. Interest in the phenomenon spread rapidly, and many celebrities came to see them and to receive messages from the spirit world. Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune, was one of their early supporters.

The Fox sisters continued their demonstrations until the early 1890s in spite of being accused of fraud, trickery, ventriloquism, and cracking their joints. They were studied by eminent scientists, but were also subjected to humiliating experiences by investigators. Both Maggie and Katie had extensive personal and financial problems, and became alcoholic. At one point Maggie denounced Spiritualism, and said the raps were produced by cracking the knee joints. A year later, however, she retracted this and blamed her personal situation and the influence of those who did not believe in spiritualistic phenomena. Katie died in 1892, and Maggie followed a year later, just before the first meeting of the National Spiritualist Association.

The Fox sisters' mediumship was the beginning of a widespread interest in Spiritualism and its phenomena. According to Lindgren (1994), there were more than ten million followers of Spiritualism in the latter half of the 1800s. The number of physical and mental mediums continued to grow, in England as well as the United States. Physical mediums produced a variety of phenomena, for example:

- teleportation - the moving of an object for one place to another

- apports - the producing of an object out of thin air

- levitation - the rising of an object, such as a table, or a person

- rappings - such as those heard by the Fox sisters

- automatic writing and painting - written messages or works of art produced by the writer or artist simply holding a pen or brush

- materialization - the method by which a substance called ectoplasm is produced from a medium and then forms into a recognizable spirit.

The most famous physical medium was Daniel D. Home (1833-1886). His manifestations included levitating massive tables, the playing of an accordion in a wire cage with no visible hands, teleportation, and levitating himself out of a third story window, and back in another window. He was studied extensively by scientists of the time, most notably Sir William Crookes. Although physical mediumship can be, and often was, fraudulent, Home was never found to be so.

There were thousands of people practicing mental mediumship in the late 1800s. Mental mediums communicated with the spirit world usually by holding seances. Unlike Home, whose manifestations were produced in daylight, most mental mediums performed in darkened conditions. Messages were given, through the medium, from those in the spirit world to those present. Many people were absolutely convinced of their authenticity, and felt that information was given that was unkown to anyone but themselves. Again, there was opportunity for fraud, but many investigated mediums were found to be genuine.

Spiritualists, convinced that there is indeed life after death, were prominent in social reform movements of the time. Braude (1989) parallels the Spiritualist movement with that of women's rights. She credits the mediums who spoke in public, an activity previously open only to men, with paving the way for the speakers of the women's suffrage movement. Spiritualists were also active in children's rights, health and labor reforms, religious freedom, and the abolition of slavery. In fact, Abraham Lincoln admitted that he was led to sign the emancipation proclamation under the guidance of spirit through the mediumship of Nellie Maynard. (Grumbine, 1917).

Cannot believe that the days have gone so fast. The healers are waiting ready for you to arrive . The sessions are 1pm till 2 pm and 7pm till 8pm.
Glad to hear that the dog who has healing has improved so much since it has been coming in the evening session.

Meditation Group

Come along to what is becoming a very popular event. It is growing in the attendance
every other week.
It is a great way to develop any talent you may have spiritually, so join us only £2 for a couple of hours spent with like minds.

Sunday Evening Service

Emma Cole, another young new worker showed this evening just how far she progressed with her work with Spirit. She showed confidence and a maturity in her address and accuracy and humour in her evidence of survival.
Thank you Emma for your work at the church tonight it was very enjoyable.

Sunday Morning

Sharon Fry and Kim(Roy)Rogers were the workers this morning. They have only started on their journey with Spirit and it looks as if they will be doing this work for a long time. They both looked confident,but believe me the Park Grove rostrum is a daunting
place to stand and give an address and provide evidence of survival.
Both things were done to the best they could, with a complete trust in Spirit to show them the way.
Well done Sharon and a special well done to Kim as it was the first address she had ever given. Their work was appreciated by a congregation of 14 people.
Thanks to Ceri who gave Phil a copy of music by Muriel to play between the address and clairvoyance parts of the service, so as to change the vibrations

Hymns criticised at the service

Criticism re the hymns that were chosen this morning were aimed at the chairperson Phil Spillane. He tried to point out that he did not sing them only picked them.
He was accused of picking mourning songs.
In his defense he said he did pick them but they were morning songs as opposed to mourning songs. That's his excuse and he says he is sticking to it.

I wont mention any names, but Chris Corsi you will be picking them next week.!!!!!!!!

Demonstration Of Mediumship

There is no demonstration tonight 21st March because of the parking problems which will be caused by the Rugby International.
Park Grove would like to apologize for this inconvenience and remind you all that it will be all back to normal for next Saturdays Demonstration.

The Sunday services 22nd March are not affected and will be waiting for you at both services, 11am and 6pm.

Andrej Again

Sunday has been renamed Djordjevitch Day, at Park Grove Church any way. After taking the demonstration this evening Andrej is back to do both services on Sunday.
Glutton for punishment our Andrej, but we like him.

Healers will be ready to help you from 10-30am and in the evening Andrej Djordjevitch will be the worker for the demonstration at 7pm.

Open Circle tonight

Just as you thought it was safe to go back to the open circle you learn that the DREADED Gaynor will be taking it this evening. Do not let her crutches put you off, as Cath Kelly will keep her in order, or try to.
The only other way to miss out on her vengeance is to behave and dont get her angry or wind her up. Yes that means you Heidi Reis and you Jane Best.

You all know that I am only joking ,or am I ? Seriously Gaynor is a lovely Lady and would love to see you at the Open Circle tonight. She wants you all to come so she can guide you in the right direction.

COMMUNION OF SPIRITS & THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS

The Communion of Spirits, is often considered to be the key principle of Spiritualism. It brings out, in sharp contrast, the basic difference between materialism and spiritualism as a philosophy and between Christianity and Spiritualism as a religion, because of our claim to hold communion with departed spirits. Our demonstrations of proved survival have transformed philosophy from a theory into a reality and religion from a creed into a living experience.

We have now proved, consistently and continuously, for a period of over one hundred years, that those who die in this material world continue their life without interruption in another world, another dimension, which intermingles with our own. Not only do they return to communicate with us, and so prove their survival, but they may spend a considerable part of their time helping and guiding us in our earthly problems. We too are essentially spirit, and that vital part of us, which we call the subconscious, is sensitive to spirit influence. Many of us, therefore, although not conscious of the influence of spirit, are nevertheless spirit guided. The spirit inspired mental impressions received by the subconscious will filter through to the conscious level and influence, in varying degrees, the thoughts and actions of the recipients.

In certain individuals, who are called sensitive, there is a close relationship between the conscious and subconscious levels to such an extent that they are more directly aware, through the extra-sensory perceptive faculties of their spirit body, of the 'finer vibrations' - the different frequency of spirit thought and form, thus making it possible for them to communicate with the spirit people.

Our communication brings us precious and vital knowledge of our immortal natures and eternal destiny. In our communications we learn that those who have passed on have not changed, except in the physical vehicle through which they express themselves. Their interests and desires, loves and hates, wisdom and stupidity remain identical the moment after final separation from the body has been effected. New laws of a new world however have to be learned. New problems, trials and joys await the unfoldment of their spirits. This realization helps us to understand the continuity and evolutionary aspects of all life and which practical expression leads us to draw ever nearer towards complete unity. It teaches us to serve in harmony with the Supreme Spirit which expresses itself in us and gives us life. No religion has ever revealed such a clear relationship between our individual lives and their divine source

Park Grove opens it's doors twice tomorrow. Our dedicated healers will be there at 1pm until 2pm and again in the evening at 7pm until 8pm. Why not join them in the energies of the church. I know you will feel a lot better.

Well not long now until I leave the warm house for the cold outside to make my way to a very warm place, Park Grove. Jackie Brown and her husband George will be taking the service along side the Chairman Jack Wynn Williams,( with a name tag ) maybe not. I did my stint this morning, so I will be stewarding.

Sunday Service

Another excellent service by medium Val Croot. 23 people heard an address which certainly did not lave things to the imagination. In her ususl straight to the point style she spoke clearly and it was obvious that all were listening to her every word.
The demonstration of survival was again of a high standard with good evidence given. Val will openly tell you that she does not like this part of the service, but that does not stop Spirit from working with her.

The elusive Gail Osbourne turned up at park Grove tonight. The recession has not affected us here at the church as we were able to have a BOGOF night. Good value for £3. Good to know that Gail is well and is working like old.

Sunday Services

The morning 11am service brings Val Croot once again and this is followed at the 6pm service with workers Jacquie qnd George Brown. This couple have been to the church before and we look forward to the service.
After the service you are welcome to stay for coffee, tea, biscuits and of course a good gossip.

So come along to have a grat time in good company with people with like minds.

Demonstration Of Mediumship

Tonight anything can happen. Why you may ask. Well the worker is a lady who is always herself and never fails to entertain.
She has stepped in tonight as a replacement for the original worker , and did not even have to be asked. As soon as she heard, she was straight in with a 'I will do it'. So tonight, come along to see Val Croot, ( she hates to be called Valerie). Only £3 admission and your fairly certain of a good time.

Going so fast

Where is the time going? The week seems to fly by when you are having fun, but not good when you have so much to do.
I should be tidying up the sign that faces the railway ,but just dont seem to have enough time to do it . I will make a conscious effort to sort it before the AGM.

All you members be aware that this is on the 27th April and starts at 7pm. Remember you need to be a member to be eligible to vote so renew those meberships people , it is so important for the church.

Sunday morning

It is 10=10am and I am ready to meet all who is coming to the morning service. Lloyd our steward is not here ,and that is unusual for him (hope all is OK.) It is good to be back at the church after a weekend away, My 'significant other' Pat is still not 100% but hopes to make it for round 2 this evening.

Weekend Services

On Saturday morning come along to healing then spend £3 in the evening to see a demonstration of mediumship by Margaret Challenger. That begins at 7pm.
if you are a Sunday person there are two services on that day, one at 11am when the worker is Linda Calver and the other one at 6pm, when the worker is Vanessa Follett.

The healing on Saturday starts at 10-30am and finishes at 11-30am

Cards for all occassions

You must have noticed that there are some beautiful cards on display at the church. They can be found on top of the glass cabinet.
They have been made by our own Sunday morning regular Sylvia, who usually sits at the back of the church in front of the cabinet.
Can I pass on the thanks of the committee for your beautiful cards. We on the committee appreciate all the work that members do, as it helps the church doors remain open in these recession mad days.

Wednesday Healing

Here at the church on Monday night is the popular meditation session, and I for one hope you will all attend. Only £2 on the door and you must agree that is a good price for such an interesting night.

Another well attended event. The worker was Val Croot who always brings her character into the proceedings and the vibrations are well and truly lifted. Plenty of new faces among the usual suspects.
Great to see the how some are developing and can only auger weel for the future of the Church.
I am off for a weekend of ,well don't know yet, but it is certainly going to be different as my experiences have shown me in the past.
