Please accept this comment as it is intended which is to provide some feedback.

I have felt frustrated and disappointed with the quality of medium-ship being demonstrated from the platform for some time and am seeing little indication that it is likely to improve any time soon.

The last several mediums I have seen from the rostrum have, in my opinion, not been of sufficient standard to maintain a full evening of clairvoyance by themselves and would have been better suited for a fledgling evening.

I think that whilst there is no doubt that the mediums have the ability to communicate with spirit, the quality of information that is provided has not been good enough and the frustrating thing is that we seem to think this level of ability is acceptable.

The number of messages that I have seen given lately that can be deconstructed and given to half of the congregation is frighteningly high, along with the all too popular "I can give you (insert any month here) for an anniversary, celebration, birthday or passing".

I have a large family, for each month of the year, I have a one of these things for someone. Is it too much to ask for mediums to at least be able to tell me which one it is?

Furthermore, the randomness in which messages are given in both their location and their content/structure is disappointing. There appears to be a trend to jump around between people and the content of the message being given.

I was always taught that there is a basic structure to giving a message which is:

1) Establish who you are working with

2) Confirm to the recipient exactly who you have with you based on the evidence provided. ie. the recipient must know who you are talking about based purely on the evidence you have provided so that the message could not apply to anyone else.

3) Once the communicator has been recognised, explain the reason for them coming through.

4) Pass on any other information the communicator wants to bring. Such as birthdays and names which should be exact.

5) Always leave the recipient with something .

I appreciate that all mediums work differently and this process is only a guide as to how to lay out a message but it would be nice to see mediums attempting it, especially focusing on the second point.

In my opinion, there is a frightening trend to push mediums out to the platform too quickly, when they lack the experience and depth of ability to maintain the energy required to complete a full service and this, unfortunately, appears to be acceptable within churches.

The sad thing is that this is the advert that is being presented to the next generation of budding spiritualists and frankly I find this worrying.

I have a few friends that are itching to know more about spiritualism but I am yet to recommend a medium / church service for them to go to as I haven't seen anyone of sufficient capability that I think would be a brilliant advert for this way of life in my last 6 or 7 visits.

As I say please accept my comments as feedback and bare in mind it is only my opinion. However, I only offer the information in an attempt protect what I love from ridicule and condemnation from people who choose not to understand this way of life.

Can I say that although I can see the reason you have written this comment, you must remember that it is just not this church that is suffering with this problem. The mediums you say are below standard serve most of the churches in this area.
This church offer many courses in the development of medium ship, and having attended quite a lot I can assure you that what you are saying which I will use an acoromyn "CERT" is taught at these courses.

I can relate to what you are saying and I understand that you are talking in general terms not just about Park Grove.

However if your friends are relying on you to introduce them to spiritualism they can`t have much of an itch. You come because you are drawn not because someone is vetting the mediums for you.

From time to time we do have below standard mediums but I would say this is the exception rather than the rule.

In the last six months I can only think of two mediums that I would not wish to see on our rostrum again for divine service and I think that`s pretty good for 26 services. Of course we have had 52 services but I don`t go to both.

Well Scott,as they say in sport "you talk a good game". Everyone has an opinion and can express that opinion, but I would love to know how tou qualify to give it. Are you an approved teacher in spiritual things? You have a very high opinion of yourself to advise your friends when to come to services, cant they come themselves and decide if the medium was good, bad etc.
