This day is important to all Spiritualists. This day in 1848 marks the day when Modern Day Spiritualism was said to be started by the Fox Sisters.

THE BEGINNINGS OF MODERN SPIRITUALISM

The Fox family moved to a homestead in Hydesville New York State and in 1848 they were disturbed by noises, knockings, movements of objects and other apparently supernatural phenomena. Two of the children Catherine and Margaretta discovered that if they spoke out then the mysterious noises seemed to respond. It became clear that these phenomena were not just random manifestations of energy but were under the control of some unknown invisible intelligence. In a world where such happenings were feared and labelled by many as of satanic origin, in a world where religion regulated many aspects of life and forbad spirit communication these fantastic happenings soon gained the attention of neighbours and family acquaintances. The news of these happenings spread far and wide, at times scores of bystanders came to marvel at the unexplained knockings and noises.

The Fox family suffered scorn, ridicule, and persecution but because of them the truth of spirit communication and advice from spirit people as to how to organise communication circles came and has been followed ever since. A committee of investigation was formed and communicated with the unseen intelligence harassing the Fox family. The committee listened out for the response signal knocks and they established that the communicator was Charles B Rosna, who had been murdered and buried beneath the cellar of the homestead. An excavation of the cellar later proved that there was indeed the remains of a body buried there.

The Hydesville occurrences showed that a system of communication was possible and that spirits could direct and give guidance helping the process. They explained, and it was shown to be correct, that certain people were naturally mediumistic and that communication using a code enabled strikingly accurate and detailed information to be communicated. The printing press, cheaper newspapers and books, the greater literacy amongst the people meant that many learned about this new spirit phenomena and how it could be replicated by forming circles in homes and with the guidance of the spirits themselves. So from this first modern example sprung up development groups and spiritual phenomena flowed from many quarters providing innumerable people with personal joyful corroborative evidence of the existence of a spirit world that could communicate with those still on earth. And these people in turn became advocates to the Spiritualist cause.

Monday Demonstration

Tonight at 7pm Jan Lloyd will be striving to bring our two worlds a little closer.
Jan has worked Park Grove on a number of occasions and always does well.

So come along and she the communication between a medium and your loved ones .

This morning it is the turn of Val Croot to take the morning service.
Tonight the workers are Sandra Pengilley and John Litterick .
The church have no doubts that the standards we have met recently will continue.

Open Circle Thursday

It is the popular duo of Sharon and Kim tonight at open circle.
Sharon will be using her mediumistic talents to show us where we go wrong, and Kim (known locally as Roy) will be telling us to go wrong when she says , as she is the Chairperson.

I look forward to the two of them and also too all you friends who will be turning up to try and beat last time total of 31.

So you know what to do , come along and take part, you never know you may surprise yourselves.
Be there before 7pm or you will not be allowed in. Kim is very strict (Ha Ha )

Wednesday Healing

Dont forget that Wednesday is healing time at Park Grove. There are two sessions one at 1pm till 2pm and 7pm till 8pm.

There is also a session on Saturday morning 10-30 till 11-30am.

Monday Demonstration

Mr Tom Dodds is back again with his unique style of mediumship this evening.
He has been to the church several times , so come along and see what can be done.

Sunday Services

On this Sunday we have the return of Mr Ron May for the 11am service. Mr May has been active in Spiritualism for many years and it is always a pleasure to welcome him to Park Grove.

The evening worker is Chris Hawker who to my knowledge has not worked here before.
He will be welcomed with our usual Park Grove style, and we lok forward to the service.

Open Circle Thursday

Doesn't it come around quickly. Lets see if we can beat our attendance this evening. The most I have seen there is 40, and we were more oval than circle. Come along and see what you will get in a wonderful atmosphere that is so calming and powerful at the same time.

Wednesday Healing

Yes the healers are waiting to ease your pains. Come along to the session in the afternoon 1pm- 2pm or the evening session ay 7pm - 8pm. You know it makes sense.

Today at Park Grove

Today respected medium Don Sutton who is the President of the South Wales District Council is to take both the 11am and 6pm service. We look forward to Don coming to our church and hope that he is recovering from his recent surgery.

Last NIghts Open Circle

This was enjoyed by 19 people who all went away with something new in their knowledge of mediumship.
A massive thank you to Andrej Djordjevitch for his positive feedback which helped all who attended.

Monday Demonstration

This Monday sees the return of Bev Charles to the church. it is always good to see Bev give a service.
last time she brought two other mediums with her and a good night was had by all. Will she bring them with her this time? Come along and find out . Only £3 per person and it starts at 7pm.

Sunday Services

This Sunday at the Park Grove Church there will be two services as normal. The 11am service will be taken by the lovely Angela Porter, followed by Lynne and Andrew Ryan for the 6pm service.
Come along and be a part of the devine services which include philosophy and a demonstration segment in both services.

Healing is held at Park Grove every Saturday morning between 10-30 and 11-30 am and every Wednesday in the afternoon between 1pm and 2pm, and in the evening between 7pm amd 8pm.
There is no charge for the healing, but you can make a donation towards the cost of the church and its upkeep.
