Sunday Evening Service

Well not long now until I leave the warm house for the cold outside to make my way to a very warm place, Park Grove. Jackie Brown and her husband George will be taking the service along side the Chairman Jack Wynn Williams,( with a name tag ) maybe not. I did my stint this morning, so I will be stewarding.

Lets see a crowd of you at the church tonight.

After coming home from church last night I switched on to to Paxman just in time to catch him looking at a planchette with a bad smell under his nose. He wouldn`t have had that smell under his nose if he`d been at Park Grove last night.

The calibre and variety of our visiting mediums never ceases to amaze me. Last night our mediums arrived in very sombre garb and seemingly sombre mood. It was obvious early on that a)they had had trouble with their med-nav in getting to us and b) this was going to be no ordinary night.

Someone has not forgotten the threatened pie-eating contest and is arranging the gnashers for Gaynor to help her with it. Nice to know too that her recent accident has not affected her tongue which her father confirms is the only part of her still working properly so watch out on Thursday.

Both mediums gave convincing evidence and best of all we all had a good laugh. They clearly could have gone on all night and we could have listened to them all night.

I do think we ought to have a rule that the visiting mediums do not get spoken to after the service until they are firmly ensconced with their tea and biscuits although I was guilty of holding them up last night too.

I often find that if I don`t have a message as such there is something in the philosophy or reading that particularly chimes with what I have been thinking about. Yesterday I wrote a poem before church which totally ties in with the philosphy given. If I have time I`ll send it later but I`m still tweaking it a bit.

SHARING THE PRAM

When we were only one or two
Was it only me and you
Or were there more

Was our pram an open door

Anyone could come and see
And take snaps of you and me
I`ve looked at them
And I am sure

That there was more

Time has robbed my memory
And yet and yet I look to see
If it were only you and me

Did someone kiss us both good night
When your mum and mine were out of sight
Did their grandparents do the same
And when danger threatened call a name

Did I see angels round your head
Hear fairies giggle by my bed
Did my great grandma and your granpa
Keep watch upon the rocking horse
Wind assisting us on life`s course
Who was it shouted MINE that day
When the rock face fell away

I think I promised not to tell
And yet I know I know you well
I`ve come too far
Not to know you great grandpa

Is this why we all survive
Because unseen hands keep us alive
Because we promised not to say
When we were helped along the way.

Illusions of grandeur will not make your light shine bright, I think it will dampen the flame.
